Arthouse Films and Red Envelope Entertainment will jointly release the documentary Black White + Gray: A Portrait Of Sam Wagstaff And Robert
Mapplethorpe.

James Crump's film premiered at Tribeca and will open theatrically in Los Angeles and New York at the end of the year followed by DVD release in 2008 on the Arthouse Films label and via Netflix.

Black White + Gray focuses on the symbiotic relationship between the photograph collector Wagstaff and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, and their friendship with the legendary singer Patti Smith.

'This is a film anyone interested in photography and art will want to see,' executive producers David Koh and Buchthal said.

Arthouse's Koh and Lilly Bright negotiated the deal with Stanley Buchthal of LM Media and Rob Williams, Liesl Copland, Thom Zadra and Bahman Naraghi for Red Envelope Entertainment.
