Followingyesterday's news that it has acquired all US rights to Cedric Kahn's Berlintitle Red Lights (FeuxRouges), New York-basedindependent Wellspring has taken US rights to Italian director MarcoBellocchio's Good Morning, Night (Buongiorno, Notte).

The deals forboth pictures were negotiated by Wellspring's head of acquisitions MarieTherese Guirgis and head of theatrical distribution Ryan Werner and HengamehPanahi on behalf of Celluloid Dreams. Wellspring will release both titles laterthis year, with DVD/video releases to follow.

"We have beenfollowing the very talented Cedric Kahn's career and are delighted to releasehis best film yet and one of the most original and entertaining Frenchthrillers in years," Guirgis said in a statement.

Red Lights,which played in competition at Berlin last month, is based on Georges Simenon's1953 novel Feux Rougesabout a bickering couple on a road trip who encounter an escaped killer. CaroleBouquet stars.

Good Morning,Night won three awardswhen it opened last year at the Venice Film Festival and is nominated for eightNastro D'Argento awards.

The storycentres on an imagined take on the kidnapping and murder of Italian primeminister Aldo Moro by Red Brigade activists in 1978, as seen through the eyesof a troubled young woman who is one of Moro's kidnappers. Maya Sansa andRoberto Herlitzka star.
