Award-winningdocumentary film-maker Joe Berlinger has signed a two-book deal with StMartin's Press for the worldwide publishing rights to Metallica: ThisMonster Lives andBerlinger's memoirs Murder, Music & Mayhem: A Filmmaker's Mid-Career Report.

Metallica:This Monster Lives isbased on Berlinger's experiences filming the legendary heavy metal band in Metallica:Some Kind Of Monster,which IFC Films plans to release in theUS in July.

Murder, Music& Mayhem: A Filmmaker's Mid-Career Report charts Berlinger's film-making career including hismisadventures as director on the ill-fated Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows.

Berlinger wonthe 1993 DGA award with partner Bruce Sinofsky for the miscarriage of justicedocumentary Brother's Keeper, which also won the Sundance audience award in 1992.

Metallica is due to be published in November withthe memoirs set to follow in 2005.
