Oblivion to cross $100m
Universal Pictures International executives anticipate a consolidation session as Oblivion seeks to retain its international box office crown.
The sci-fi thriller is set to open in a further nine territories including Venezuela and Poland and opened last weekend on a little over $60m. A $100m-plus running total by the end of the second wekend would seem within reason. The film is set to open in North America this weekend.
IMAX Corporation, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment said on Thursday  that Despicable Me 2 will be digitally remastered into IMAX 3D and released in IMAX theatres internationally commencing Jun 20.
Despicable Me generated more than $543m worldwide and becoming the 10th highest grossing animated film in US history.
DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods has reached $245.4m through Fox International and arrives in India, Pakistan and Greece this weekend. Lincoln on $83.1m opens in Japan and Life Of Pi stands at $485.3m.
Warner Bros Pictures International reported that Jack The Giant Slayer stands at $126m.
Evil Dead has reached an early $10.9m through Sony Pictures Releasing International and arrives this weekend in Brazil, New Zealand and seven other markets.
