Universal/WorkingTitle's Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason added an estimated $13.5m through UIP at the weekend andgrossed roughly $8m in France through Mars, raising the international runningtotal to $139.7m.

The romanticcomedy sequel scored Working Title's biggest ever and Universal's fourthbiggest ever opening day in South Korea (9), opening top on $2m from 156screens over the entire weekend for Working Title's biggest opening weekend andUniversal's third biggest ever behind only The Mummy Returns and The Lost World.

The recordscontinued to fall as Bridget opened top in Belgium on $975,000 on 60 in its first five days,claiming 30% market share. This was Working Title's biggest opening andUniversal's sixth biggest debut of all time in the territory.

StudioCanalsubsidiary Mars was the distributor in France where the picture grossed $8m,roughly 77% bigger than Bridget Jones's Diary in 2001. It opened third in Argentina on$95,000 on 43.

A strong hold inGermany added $3m on 691 dates in its second weekend, dropping 30% and rankingsecond for an $8.6m running total.

Bridget ranked fifth in the UK and passed thefinal total of the original in US$ ($60.3m) after adding $1.8m on 439 for$60.8m in its fifth weekend.

Austria ranked second on $1.6m after its secondweekend, Spain ranked fourth and raised its total to $8.9m after four,Australia ranked sixth and has taken $12.8m after five, and Brazil placedsecond on $970,000 after its second weekend.

The picture remainedtop in New Zealand for the fourth weekend in a row and has grossed $2.2m andpassed the original's final total. It ranked 10th in Mexico, raising itscumulative total to $906,000 after three weekends.

There are 14territories still to open including Egypt, Greece and Thailand next weekend.

Seed OfChucky, the Child'sPlay instalment releasedin the US through Focus Features' genre banner Rogue Pictures, opened in thirdplace in Spain through UIP on $365,000 on 172.

German comedysensation Seven Dwarvesadded $900,000 on 690 screens in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg,raising the international cumulative total to a staggering $52.4m.

It has grossed$45m after seven weeks in Germany alone, and $4.9m in Austria after the sameamount of time.
