Munich-based production entity Cineartists Entertainment has postponed its planned flotation on Frankfurt's Neuer Markt following the recent plunge of Frankfurt's Neuer Markt.

Cineartists was at the end of this month due but now aims to go to the market in the second quarter of 2001. Cineartists' interests include US film and TV production outfit Mandalay Pictures, co-producer of this year's Berlinale opener Enemy At The Gates, as a wholly-owned subsidiary, along with digital cinema services and e-commerce.

Amongst the factors that may make the company more attractive for a return to the market are developments at its Digital Cinema Services(DCS)subsidiary. Having appointed veteran producer Wieland Schulz-Keil (The Innocent) as managing director, the subsidiary will be spearheading equipping German cinemas with digital reception and projection equipment.

As a content provider, Cineartists will also be banking on new technology such as set-top boxes or new data formats like MPEG 3, which will enable films to be transmitted via Internet.
