German producer-distributor Constantin Film has exceeded its sales forecasts according to provisional results, with group turnover increasing by 80% to Euros116m.

Theatrical distribution accounted for the bulk of Constantin's 2000 sales - Euros53m - thanks to the successful releases of films such as American Pie, The Sixth Sense, Harte Jungs and Erkan Und Stefan. TV licensing accounted for Euros27.5m, video/DVD for Euros9.3m and commissioned productions for Euros21.3m.

The provisional EBIT of Euros6.4m also exceeded forecasts and was an improvement of Euros11.2m over 1999.

Forecasts for the current financial year see Constantin posting a group turnover of Euros140m and an EBIT of Euros14m.
