Dimension Films has swoopedon US rights to 2929 Productions' remake of the 1974 horror thriller BlackChristmas, which will be made byJames Wong and Glen Morgan, the filmmaking team behind Final Destination and The One.

2929 International will becommence pre-sales at AFM on the project, which is scheduled to beginproduction in January for a Christmas 2006 North American release.

Morgan will direct based ona screenplay by Wong about a sorority house terrorised by a killer who callshis victims before murdering them.

Morgan and Wong will producewith Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse, Steve Hoban, Victor Solnicki and Marc Butan.

2929 Entertainment co-headsTodd Wagner and Mark Cuban will serve as executive producers with Scott Nemes,the 1974 picture's original director Bob Clark, and Noah Segal. SatsukiMitchell will co-produce and oversee the project for 2929.

"We have a great respect forDimension Films' marketing and distribution abilities, particularly for thisproject, which was one of the great '70s horror movies, so we are delightedthat they will be releasing the film," 2929 Productions president Butan said.

The acquisition continuesthe relationship between 2929 and Dimension Films' parent company The WeinsteinCompany, which is handling 2929's comedy Fast Track in North America.
