In advance of its Berlin screenings, Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act Of Killing has been sold to multiple territories.

The film, exec produced by Werner Herzog and Errol Morris, has been sold to Films We Like (FWL) in Canada. Meanwhile, Madman has come in to take Australian rights.

Cinema Delicatessen has come in for the Netherlands and Flemish-speaking Belgium while Against Gravity has taken Polish rights.

The deals were confirmed during the European Film Market by Philippa Kowarsky, managing director of the film’s sales agent, Cinephil.

Drafthouse took US rights following the film’s premiere in Toronto last autumn and is planning a major release in the summer.

The Act Of Killing is screening in Panorama. The feature doc tells the gruesome story of Indonesian gangsters who were behind mass murder following the military coup of 1965. The gangsters are invited by Oppenheimer to re-enact their crimes in the guise of scenes from Hollywood movies.

Doc-specialists Cinephil has several other titles in official selection, among them Dan Setton’s State 194 about attempts to have Palestine recognized by the UN as an independent state, and Art/Violence, chronicling the attempts by young actresseses putting on plays on the West Bank in Palestine.
