EXCLUSIVE: Cargo Entertainment has been talking up its new Kristen Wiig comedy Welcome To Me to Croisette buyers on behalf of Bron Studios and Gary Sanchez Productions.

Wiig, the Bridesmaids writer and star who is among the voice cast in Universal’s imminent global summer release Despicable Me 2, will play a woman who wins the lottery and uses her gains to fund a cable talk show about herself.

The platform allows the woman to indulge her obsession with fame and in the process jeopardise her ties with friends and family.

Shira Piven directs from a screenplay by Eliot Laurence.

Aaron L Gilbert and Marina Grasic are producing the comedy drama with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Jessica Elbaum and Wiig. Robyn Wholey is the executive producer. Bron’s Margot Hand serves as co-producer.

Production is scheduled to begin this summer in California. UTA packaged the project and represents US rights.

Recent Bron Studios productions include the Tribeca premiere Trust Me by Clark Gregg and A Single Shot starring Sam Rockwell.

Gary Sanchez Productions produced the upcoming release Anchorman: The Legend Continues as well as The Other Guys and Bachelorette.
