Former PolyGram Filmed Entertainment/Universal Pictures International executive David Collins will take up the newly created role of general manager of REP Distribution from March 6.

Collins will oversee day-to-day operations reporting to parent company Becker Entertainment's head of film Mark Gooder. The position makes Collins directly responsible for all REP's theatrical releases including sales, marketing, and acquisitions.

"David has a great reputation in the industry," said Gooder. "His enormous experience in sales and marketing make him a valuable asset for the company and his background in mainstream independent releasing makes him an obvious choice for this new role. I also look forward to his input into acquisitions for REP."

REP is one of Australia's largest independents and had last year's local box office hit, Gregor Jordan's Two Hands. Gooder also oversees Becker's other distribution entity, Dendy Films.
