The Mexican, The Contender and Brotherhood Of Wolf are among the titles in a Euros 10m film package deal of first and second run licences concluded by Helkon Media with private German broadcaster RTL 2 as part of new, comprehensive long-term programme between the two companies.

Commenting on the programme of co-operation with Helkon, RTL 2's managing director Josef Andorfer declared that the "access to the Helkon film library enables us to complement our programmes by high-quality productions and further increase our competence in feature films".

This latest licence deal was reached by Helkon independently of its output deal with the German office of Buena Vista International (BVI) which allows the German rights trader to sell its pay- and free-TV rights on to German broadcasters via BVI's TV output arrangements.

Helkon's deal with BVI, which lasts until 2002, with the option to extend for another year, had meant that Helkon was less affected by the buying slowdown by German TV stations than some of its competitors such as Kinowelt, Advanced and Splendid.
