The latest films fromCentral and Eastern Europe are set to have a new promotional platform at thisyear's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (June 30 - July 8) with thecreation of the CenEast Film Event.

The new initiative is opento films from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, CzechRepublic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania,Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia and Slovenia.

International distributors,sales agents and festival programmers will be invited to attend the East of theWest Panel on July 2 for a presentation of a selection of films, recentlycompleted or in postproduction, whose premieres are expected by the end of2007. Each producer will have 10 minutes, including a trailer of no more than sixminutes with English subtitles, to present their film.

The CenEast Film Event will also include special closed industryscreenings of films in postproduction, which are scheduled to premiere in thelatter half of 2006; one-to-one meetings to follow up the producerpresentations or industry screenings; and a showcase of new documentaries -entitled 'Docu Talents from East' - to be organised in collaborationwith the Institute of Documentary Film and Jihlava International DocumentaryFilm Festival during Karlovy Vary on July 5.
