Daniel Katz has beenpromoted to vice president of acquisitions at THINKFilm. He will remain in thecompany's New York offices and report directly to head of theatricaldistribution Mark Urman and senior vice president of acquisitions and businessaffairs Randy Manis.

Katz began his distributioncareer in 1999 when he moved to New York, eventually breaking into the industryat Merchant Ivory Productions and later Lions Gate Films, where he reported toUrman.

He joined THINKFilm at itsinception in 2001 and most recently served as director of acquisitions, playinga key role in the acquisition of titles such as Spellbound; The Story Of TheWeeping Camel and Bus 174.

Katz was also instrumentalin acquiring the upcoming THINKFilm releases Mondovino, Jonathan Nossiter's wine documentary, and Primer, Shane Carruth's Sundance Grand Jury prize-winningthriller.
