Lightning acquires US rights to four titles

Lightning Media has acquired US rights to four new titles that the company plans to release theatrically in late 2009 and early 2010.

The Santa Monica-based distribution company has acquired drama Life Is Hot In Cracktown acquired from William Morris Independent, horror spoof Diagnosis Death from producer Jason Stutter, comedy The Break-up Artist from Arsenal Pictures, and horror-thriller Clive Barker’s Book Of Blood from Essential Entertainment.

Paul Gardner, the co-president of Lightning Media, a division of Lightning Entertainment Group, said: “Adding four new commercial films to our slate puts the company in a strong position for the next six quarters. It’s obvious that we are striving to assemble a diverse slate that hits broad audiences. With these titles, we think we have acomplished that.”

Gardner launched Lightning Media in May 2008 with co-president Rich Goldberg. Recent releases include Sundance drama The Guitar, crime thriller Columbus Day, and Finnish box office hit Christmas
