Lions Gate haschanged its name to Lionsgate and unveiled a new corporate logo yesterday[Thursday].

Company chiefexecutive officer Jon Feltheimer told a Santa Monica press conference that thelogo, which depicts revolving camera gears and heavenly doors opening to revealthe company name, would be modified for each division.

Feltheimer toldattendees the company will release its first feature targeted at the Latinocommunity next year, La Mujer De Mi Hermano, which will open in limited releasedomestically on Jan 27.

"We'll releasethree or four over the next 12-18 months," he said. "We've also been quietlyacquiring home entertainment product."

As for the newbranding, Feltheimer said: "The Lionsgate brand has become recognisedthroughout the financial and creative communities for distinctive, originalproduct, such as the film Crash, the Tyler Perry films, the Saw horror franchise and the televisionseries Weeds.

"Our new nameand logo are designed to build upon this brand awareness and to create a bold andexciting new look for an integrated, unified company that is greater than thesum of its parts."

The logo wasdesigned by an in-house team led by executive vice president of marketing TimPalen, in association with Ogilvy & Mather and Deva Studios.
