Dan Talbot's New YorkerFilms has acquired US rights from Gotham Sales to Oren Rudavsky's romantic comedy The Treatment.

New Yorker plans a spring2007 platform release in New York for the winner of the Tribeca Film Festival'sMade In New York Best Narrative Award.

Chris Eigeman, Famke Janssenand Ian Holm star in the story of a lovelorn man who undergoes intense therapyat the hands of a highly eccentric psychotherapist.

'This is aquintessential New York comedy: well executed, intelligent and witty, with anemotionally powerful third act,' Talbot said of Rudavsky and Daniel SaulHousman's adaptation of Daniel Menaker's bestseller.

Rudavsky produced along withJonathan Shoemaker of Centre Street, and Gotham Sales concluded the deal withNew Yorker.

'I'm thrilled that NewYorker Films, which has distributed so many of the films I have worshiped overthe years, will distribute my first feature and that it will open The Treatmentin one of my favorite movie theatres - Lincoln Plaza Cinemas,' Rudavskysaid.

Ed Noeltner's CinemaManagement Group holds foreign rights and has closed sales in more than 20territories since Toronto.
