The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (aka Men Who Hate Women) – the first feature in Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy – continues its raid on the international charts.

It is currently at number two at the Spanish box office with 217,924 admissions, third in Italy on 150,000 admissions and fourth in France on 850,000. It opened in Spain and Italy last week and in France on May 13.

The film was an unexpected hit in Scandinavia taking the top spot the box office in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and, including Canada, French-speaking Switzerland and Belgium, it has reach nearly 4 million admissions since February.

Following the success, the other two parts of the trology - The Girl Who Played with the Fire (Flickan Som Lekte Med Elden) and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest (aka The Air Castle That Blew Up/Luftslottet Som Sprängdes), which were originally produced for television, will be released theatrically on Sept 18 and Nov 27 respectively.
