Plans to create a single nation film agency for the Dutch industry have been confirmed by Ronald Plasterk, the Dutch minister for Education, Culture and Sport.
The Netherlands Film Sector Institute, which will be set up early next year, will bring together Filmmuseum, Holland Film, the Netherlands Institute for Film Education and the Filmbank.
Plasterk has been the driving force behind the merger, which aims to give Dutch film culture a single face and point of contact. It follows reflects the single organisations that support the music and theatre sectors.
Earlier this month, the minister announced that he would grant an additional funding for the new body it could develop into new areas and activities.
The Film Sector Institute will determine the face of Dutch cinema both at home and abroad. It will make use of a world-renowned film collection, restoration and research expertise, and considerable experience in education, international promotion, and marketing.
