The UK Film Council’s 2009 Breakthrough Brits programme will present 13 emerging black and Asian British film-makers and artists to Hollywood this autumn.
The talent will attend the AFM this week and take part in a week of networking and masterclasses with industry players that runs until November 8. They will be unveiled at a gala hosted by the UK Film Council at the London West Hollywood Hotel on November 4.
The 2009 Breakthrough Brits are: Dipo Agboluaje, writer; Riz Ahmed, actor; Eran Creevy, director; Yann Demange, writer-director; Daniel Kaluuya, actor-writer; Shan Khan, writer-director; Tinge Krishnan, writer-director; Kolton Lee, director; Nahrein Mirza Kemp, producer; China Moo Young, director; Mel Nwanguma, writer-director; Femi Oguns, actor-writer; and Ian Iqbal Rashid, writer-director.
The industry insiders expected to take part are writers Antwone Fisher, Iris Yamashita (Letters From Iwo Jima) and Alex Tse (Watchmen), producers Marion Rosenberg (Revolutionary Road) and Mark Wolfe (Taken In Broad Daylight), and directors Bill Duke (Not Easily Broken), Julie Dash (The Rosa Parks Story and Daughters Of The Dust) and Preston Whitmore (This Christmas).
