Christie pacts with Turkey’s MARS
MARS Entertainment Group’s Cinemaximum cinemas across Turkey have signed a deal to use Christie digital cinema projectors. This agreement was made in conjunction with Astel, Christie’s key partner in the region, comprising 414 new digital cinema projectors. There are 59 Cinemaximum multiplexes in Turkey and the deployment will take three months.

AAM adds German sites
Arts Alliance Media’s flagship TMS software Screenwriter will be deployed on 41 screens across 4 sites by Germany’s UFA Cinemas. The cinemas are in Düsseldorf, Dresden, Stuttgart and Recklinghausen. The software manages all aspects of digital cinema operations. The pact marks the first deal under the new AAM/dcinex reseller partnership in Europe. UFA has an existing virtual print fee deal with dcinex and will continue to receive maintenance and technical support from the company.

Dolby Atmos moves into more Odeon/UCI sites
Odeon and UCI Cinemas Group announced plans to install Dolby Atmos in 27 cinema screens across Europe. Odeon and UCI Cinemas Group, the owner of Cinesa cinemas, plans to equip 27 of its flagship iSense screens with Dolby Atmos in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Atmos will hit more than 200 screens worldwide in the next six months.

IMAX adds three in UK
IMAX President EMEA Andrew Cripps announced that the UK’s Cineworld would add three more IMAX sites for a total of 11 during 2014-2015.

PirateEye watching Barcelona
CineEurope is using the PirateEye system for its own security this week. California-based PirateEye offers an automated optical lenses detection system to identify unauthorized use of camcorders, cameras and mobile phones. CineEurope also uses night-vision goggles for extra security.
