The distributor negotiated the deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, who will take charge of all other US media, and will open the drama on Jun 8.
Robert Pattinson, Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christina Ricci and Colm Meaney star in the Guy de Maupassant adaptation about a manipulative young social climber in 19th century Paris. Bel Ami received its world premiere in Berlin last month.
Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod directed from Rachel Bennette’s adapted screenplay. Uberto Pasolini produced and Simon Fuller of XIX Entertainment served as executive producer.
“Bel Ami is a well-crafted, appealing film with a terrific ensemble cast,” Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles said. “We think it’s a great fit for our Ultra VOD program.”
