The San Francisco Bay Area-based distributor negotiated the deal with director and producer Eve Annenberg and holds US rights and non-exclusive broadcast and festival international rights.

The New York drama follows a group of Hassidic bad boys and the works of William Shakespeare.

“I was completely charmed by the timelessness and originality of Romeo And Juliet In Yiddish,” Fishman said.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Eve Annenberg, a director with a unique aesthetic, and I am also thrilled to be releasing a film that is partially in Yiddish – with subtitles of course.”

Fishman, programme director of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival from 2003-09 and former distribution director at Frameline, among other positions, launched Nancy Fishman Film Releasing earlier this year.

Her first acquisition was Eytan Fox’s Mary Lou.
