Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) has acquired all North American rights from TrustNordisk to Susanne Bier’s In ABetter World.

Bier wrote the story with Anders Thomas Jensen about the lives of two Danish families who cross each other, leading to potentially deadly consequences.

Sisse Graum Jorgensen produced for Zentropa Entertainments in co-production with Memfis Film International, DR, SVT, Film i Vast and Trollhattan Film with support from The Danish Film Institute, Film Fyn, Nordic Film & TV Fond, The Swedish Film Institute and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.

“We are very excited to have Sony Classics on board on Susanne Bier’s In A Better World,” Susan Wendt, head of sales from TrustNordisk said. “We are sure they will do a great job in getting the film wide out to the American audience.”

Earlier this week SPC acquired North American rights to Mike Leigh’s Palme d’Or contender Another Year.
