Film Movement has picked up North American rights to Geralyn Pezanoski’s SXSW audience award documentary winner documentary Mine.

The film chronicles the custody battles that arise over prospective adoptive families of pets who lost their owners during Hurricane Katrina.

Mine played in official selection at SilverDocs, Boston Independent Film Festival and the San Diego Film Festival and will get a limited theatrical release before it launches on VOD and DVD.

Film Movement’s president Adley Gartenstein and vice-president of acquisitions and distribution Rebeca Conget negotiated the rights with George Rush on behalf of the film-makers.
