IFP has announced two international showcase screenings as part of its industry services at the 31st Annual Independent Film Week in New York in September.

Telefilm Canada will screen the latest edition of its Perspective Canada Showreel and the UK Film Council will present its New Cinema Fund Showcase on September 22 and 23, respectively.

The New Cinema Fund will be supporting the producers Laura Hastings-Smith, who is currently working on Chatroom written by Hunger screenwriter Enda Walsh, and Gail Griffiths, who is working with Terence Davies on his latest project. Other titles include Peter Mullan’s redemption drama Neds and Paul King’s road movie Bunny And The Bull.

Previous New Cinema Fund showcases highlighted Jane Campion’s Bright Star, which premiered in Cannes and screens in Toronto, as well as Armando Iannucci’s In The Loop and Sarah Gavron’s Brick Lane.

Among the Perspective Canada Showreel presentations are Daniel Grou’s revenge story Les 7 Jours Du Talion, Steven Silver’s Apartheid drama The Bang Bang Club, and Dominic Laurence’s sci-fi thriller Die.

Both Telefilm Canada and the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund are partners on IFP’s annual No Borders International Co-Production Market that takes place during Independent Film Week.

“IFP is pleased to provide a platform in the US for two of our longest-standing international partners to present excerpts from soon-to-be-completed work to buyers and festival programmers attending IFP’s Independent Film Week,” IFP executive director Michelle Byrd said.

The 31st Annual Independent Film Week runs from September 19–24.
