The star’s second outing after In The Land Of Blood And Honey is Unbroken, a survival story based on Laura Hillenbrand’s novel Unbroken: A World War II Story Of Survival, Resilience, And Redemption.

Universal and Walden Media are co-financing the project. Hillenbrand’s bestseller charts the life story of Olympian Louis Zamperini, who stayed alive in a raft for 47 days with other crewmen after his plane crashed during WWII and was captured by the Japanese and sent to prisoner of war camp.

William Nicholson wrote the latest draft of the screenplay and an earlier draft by Richard LaGravenese.

Matthew Baer and Erwin Stoff will produce and Mick Garris serves as executive producer.

Walden CEO Michael Bostick and svp of production Amanda Morgan-Palmer will oversee for Walden alongside Universal co-president of production Peter Cramer and vp of production Kristin Lowe for Universal.
