Christopher N Rowley (Bonneville) directs the adaptation of Georgia Byng’s bestseller Molly Moon’s Incredible Book of Hypnotism (the first of her five Molly Moon novels). Rowley and Byng wrote the screenplay, which had a second revision by Tom Butterworth and Chris Hurford.
The story is about an English orphan girl who finds a mysterious book and discovers she can hypnotise people.
Raffey Cassidy stars as Molly and the cast also features Dominic Monaghan, Lesley Manville, Emily Waston, Ben Miller, Celia Imrie, Anne-Marie Duff, Sadie Frost, and Joan Collins.
Amber Entertainment’s Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Ellman are producing with Byng and Simon Bosanquet.
The film is shooting for seven weeks in locations in and around London.
Camela Galan’s Speranza 13 is handling sales and will discuss the project with buyers at the forthcoming AFM.
Remi Adefarasin (Elizabeth) serves as DP, John Beard (The History Boys) as production designer, Ruth Myers (L.A. Confidential) as costume designer, Lesley Walker (Mamma Mia!) as editor and Anthony van Last (Mamma Mia!) as choreographer.
