The French government has honoured a trio of veterans from the British Film Institute.

The French government has honoured a trio of veterans from the British Film Institute. BFI Southbank’s head of film programme Geoff Andrew, London Film Festival artistic director Sandra Hebron and Sight & Sound editor Nick James were each awarded the Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres.

The honours were bestowed on Thursday by the French ambassador in a ceremony at his London residence.

The French Order was started in 1957 and recognises people who have made significant contributions to the arts and literature. Others claiming the Chevalier honour in the past range from Kylie Minogue to George Clooney to Philip Glass.
