A highly successful Slamdance that produced record attendance and severalmajor deals closed on Saturday (29) as LoriSilverbush and Michael Skolnik's drug drama On TheOuts won the Grand Jury SparkyAward for Best Narrative Feature and the corresponding audience award,while Jenny Abel and Jeff Hockett's hoaxer study AbelRaises Cain took the Grand Jury SparkyAward for Best Documentary Feature.

TheAudience Sparky Award for Best Documentary Feature went to The Real Dirt OnFarmer John, while Amir Ohebsion, David Diaan and Babrak Shokrian won the Sparky Awardfor Best Screenplay for The Apology.

In other honours, Egg won the Grand Jury Sparky Award for BestAnimation Short, Splintered won the Grand Jury Sparky Award for BestNarrative Short, and Run To Jay's took home the Grand Jury Sparky Awardfor Best Documentary Short.

The Spirit of Slamdance Award for Best Gallery Short went to Letters OfService, Milton Is A Shitbag won the Global Anarchy Award for BestAnarchy Short, and Frozen took the Kodak Vision Award for BestCinematography.

The 11th annual festival attracted a record audience of more than 20,000attendees who cast nearly 12,000 votes in the audience awards.

"Weare delighted and thrilled that this year's festival has been so warmlyreceived among the audience, be they industry, press or film enthusiasts," festivaldirector Kathleen McInnis said. "They have supported us this year with theirattendance and commitment to our filmmakers and we couldn't be more honoured."

Last week two prominent festival titles were snapped up, with Paramount Classicsand Nickelodeon taking worldwide rights excluding Australia and New Zealand to MadHot Ballroom and THINKFilm buying Canadian rights on Ill Fated.
