Universal's American Pie: The Wedding opened number one in Italy on anestimated $2m from 337 sites through UIP at the weekend, grossing 40% more thanthe prequel's equivalent bow in 2001.
The third instalment in the comedy franchise also opened top inNew Zealand, grossing $332,000 from 47, which was 23% ahead of American Pie2 and 82% ahead of AmericanPie.
Taiwan opened on $76,000 from 16 venues in Taipei. Added toFriday's previews, the Taipei total is $109,000 and the nationwide total is$232,000.
In Germany in its seventh week the film ranked ninth and added$410,000, dropping only 18% due to Friday's national holiday for an $18.1mrunning total.
Spain raised its seven-week total by $130,000 to $8.3m, while theUK added $185,000 in its eighth week for an excellent $27.4m cumulative score.
Overall American Pie: The Wedding grossed $6.2m at the weekend from 1,850sites in 22 countries to raise its international running total to $84m.
A $100m-plus total looks highly likely with 26 countries still toopen.
The street racing sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious held at number five inArgentina, adding $48,000 from 37 sites and dropping 30% for a $340,000 runningtotal there.
The film'sinternational cumulative score is $104.8m and there are four countries to open.
