Sony's Tallladega Nights:The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby stayed inpole position in its second weekend at the North American box office ahead ofBuena Vista's dance drama Step Up andParamount's 9/11 drama World Trade Center.

Talladega Nights will cross $100m later this week after adding anestimated $23m for $91.2m.

Step Up, which stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, openedsuperbly well in second place despite lacklustre reviews and took $21.1m. Itwas produced by Summit Entertainmet which is also handling international sales.

Last week's news out ofLondon about the foiled terror attacks clearly didn't deter World TradeCenter's audiences. Thewell-received epic from Oliver Stone starring Nicolas Cage came in third aftera Wednesday opening and took a very respectable $19m over three days and $26.8mover five.

Dimension's harshly reviewedJapanese horror remake Pulse starringKristen Bell opened fifth on $8.5m, while Sony/Revolution's family comedy Zoom starring Tim Allen and Courteney Cox Arquette openedtwo places below on a poor $4.6m having generated atrocious write-ups.

After six weekends BuenaVista's Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ranks sixth, adding $7.2m for $392.4m, whileUniversal's Miami Vice ranksninth on $55.1m after three.

Overall box office for thetop 12 titles was up 6.4% against the same period last year, the fourthconsecutive weekend rise.

Next weekend's wide releasesare New Line's action horror romp Snakes On A Plane starring Samuel L Jackson and Kenan Thompson; and thefamily comedy Material Girls,starring Hilary and Haylie Duff which is being released through MGM.
