IFC Films has acquired US rights to Abdellatif Kechiche's Cesar winner The Secret Of The Grain, which will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28.

The French-language drama centres on a man from the French port town of Sete whose plans to set up a restaurant heal deep wounds in his dysfunctional family.

The Secret Of The Grain launched in Venice last year where it picked up the Fipresci award and subsequently earned four Cesars for best film, director and screenplay for Kechiche and newcomer actress for Hafsia Herzi. This week it won the inaugural critics' prize at COLCOA in Los Angeles.

IFC will release the film simultaneously in theatres and on VOD through its IFC First Take label.

Arianna Bocco negotiated the acquisition with Mike Runagall from Pathe International.
