Senator Entertainment's reinvigorated return to the German production and distribution scene has been given an additional boost after the group secured a $28m (Euros 20m) loan agreement with the Berlin branch of the Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank to finance future acquisitions of film rights and film production.

Senator announced the deal in its report for the first six months of 2007, which showed the producer-distributor going back into the black just over a year after the end of the concern's insolvency proceedings and the resumption of normal business in spring 2006.

After releasing six films in the first half of 2007, Senatorplans to distribute 16 titles between July and December: nine via the Senator Film Verleih label - ranging from Planet Terror, 1408, and Nothing But Ghosts to Der Kleine Koenig Macius - and seven through Central Film, including Breach and The Hunting Party.

As part of its strategy to transform the group into an integrated media concern, Senator also indicated in the mid-year report that it wants 'to expand the activities in the segments of TV, production and music.'
