Indian studio Disney UTV has unveiled its release slate for 2014, which includes Hindi tentpoles such as P.K. starring Aamir Khan and Disney 3D titles Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Maleficent.

Other Disney titles lined up for Indian release this year include Into The Woods, Million Dollar Arm, Planes 2 – Fire & Rescue, Saving Mr Banks and Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Following its success with handling the Indian distribution of non-mainstream Hindi titles such as The Lunchbox, Ship Of Theseus and Shahid in 2013, Disney UTV has also lined up specialist titles such as Haider, Vishal Bharadwaj’s adaptation of Hamlet starring Shahid Kapoor and Tabu, and Nitin Kakkar’s Filmistaan, which played at the Busan and Goteborg film festivals.

P.K. is one of a slate of locally-produced Disney-branded movies, also including Shashank Ghosh’s Khoobsurat, starring Sonam Kapoor, Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos, with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, and 3D dance movie sequel ABCD 2. The studio’s Hindi-language slate also includes Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali’s Highway, starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda.

Disney UTV is also releasing a slate of Tamil-language movies, including Thiru’s Naan Sigappu Manithan, starring Vishal and Lakshmi Menon, and N. Lingusamy’s Anjaan, with an ensemble cast including Manoj Bajpai. The studio is also lining up an as-yet-untitled Telugu-language film, directed by Koratala Siva and starring Mahesh Babu.

“Disney UTV has produced some of the most trendsetting and cult movies of the past decade and we are confident that our upcoming releases will keep the same tradition alive,” said Disney UTV distribution chief Amrita Pandey.
