Universal's Van Helsing trailed Troyat the international box office in its second weekend as it added an estimated$24.5m from 5,200 screens in 41 territories to raise its internationalcumulative total to $95m.
Excluding $1.5m from 300 screens in Russia, the Philippines and Iceland, thepicture grossed $23m in 38 UIP markets for a $90m UIP total.
Van Helsing ranked second behind Troy in everymarket where both pictures were active. It stayed top in the UK (where Troyopens next weekend) on $4.7m on 458 screens and dropped 47% for $17.9m, andadded $2.2m on 638 in France after a 55% slip for $7.6m.
It fell 56% in Germany on $3m on 703 for $12.1m, and remained top in Italy on$1.7m on 262 after a 55% fall for $6.8m and is expected to pass the $7.7m finalgross of The Mummy Returns this week.
Van Helsing added $1.9m on 400 in Spain after plunging 61% for $7.9m andgrossed $1.5m on 228 in Australia after dropping 57% for a $6m running totalthere.
Strong holds in Latin America saw Van Helsing add $1.2m on 337 in Mexicoand fall 42% for $5.4m. It grossed $550,000 on 238 in Brazil and fell 42% for alacklustre $2.1m, while Argentina's total climbed by $125,000 from five after a45% drop for $330,000.
Taiwan produced $870,000 on 62 and a 40% drop, Singapore and Thailand both fellaround 60% and Hong Kong and Malaysia fell around 45%.
