Universal's Van Helsing trailedTroy at the international box office in its second weekend as it addedan estimated $24.5m from 5,200 screens in 41 territories to raise its internationalcumulative total to $95m.

Excluding $1.5m from 300screens in Russia, the Philippines and Iceland, the picture grossed $23m in 38UIP markets for a $90m UIP total.

Van Helsing ranked second behind Troy in every marketwhere both pictures were active. It stayed top in the UK (where Troyopens next weekend) on $4.7m on 458 screens and dropped 47% for $17.9m, andadded $2.2m on 638 in France after a 55% slip for $7.6m.

It fell 56% in Germany on$3m on 703 for $12.1m, and remained top in Italy on $1.7m on 262 after a 55%fall for $6.8m and is expected to pass the $7.7m final gross of The MummyReturns this week.

Van Helsing added $1.9m on 400 in Spain after plunging 61% for$7.9m and grossed $1.5m on 228 in Australia after dropping 57% for a $6mrunning total there.

Strong holds in LatinAmerica saw Van Helsing add $1.2m on 337 in Mexico and fall 42% for$5.4m. It grossed $550,000 on 238 in Brazil and fell 42% for a lacklustre$2.1m, while Argentina's total climbed by $125,000 from five after a 45% dropfor $330,000.

Taiwan produced $870,000 on62 and a 40% drop, Singapore and Thailand both fell around 60% and Hong Kongand Malaysia fell around 45%.
