Laine Kline has been promoted to executive vice president of business and legal affairs at The Weinstein Company, president of business and legal affairs Andrew Kramer announced today [April7].

Kline will continue to negotiate many of the company’s development, acquisition and co-production deals, as well as partnership and tax-driven agreements and financing structures.

Since joining The Weinstein Company three years ago he has negotiated contracts on productions such as The Reader, The Great Debaters, Nine, and Inglourious Basterds.

Kline previously served as senior vice president of business and legal affairs for the Yari Film Group, where he oversaw all legal matters regarding the development, production and distribution of projects including The Hoax, The Illusionist, and The Painted Veil.

Prior to that he spent three years as vice president of business and legal affairs for Anschutz Film Group stablemates Bristol Bay Productions and Crusader Entertainment, and before that he practiced entertainment law at Kenoff & Machtinger.
