IFP has selected the 10 films for its third annual Narrative Rough Cut Lab, a national programme connecting mentors and projects by first-time feature film-makers before they are submitted to festivals.

This year's slightly longer lab has moved up the calendar by three months and takes place in New York City from Jun 12-15.

2007 Lab Fellows will benefit from a new advisory board, the launch of invitational showcase screenings at the IFP Market in September of two to three-minute clips from each of the selected films, industry screenings for Lab Fellows in 2008, and an inaugural $10,000 Adrienne Shelly Director's Grant, awarded to a current or recent female directing alumnus.

The selected projects are: Boppin' At The Glue Factory (Jeffrey Jay Orgill); El Coyote (Sergio Palacios and Damian Rodriquez); The First Breath Of Tengan Rei (Junko Kajino and Ed M. Koziarski); General Impression Of Size & Shape (Alex Karpovsky); The Marconi Bros (Marco Ricci & Michael Canzoniero); Moon Europa (Chris Bower); The New Year Parade (Tom Quinn); Older Than America (Georgina Lightning); Rainbow Around The Sun (Kevin Ely and Beau Leland); and Tales From The Dead (Jason Cuadrado).

'Given the programme's explicit commitment to diversity, we were especially pleased to see a 30% increase in submissions by female directors and a 36% increase by directors of colour,' IFP executive director Michelle Byrd said.

'With submissions coming in from more than 20 states, this year's Narrative Rough Cut Lab will truly reflect the depth and diversity of independent film-making at its best.'
