Hungarian Film Week has announced the lineup for its 38th annual showcase of new Hungarian cinema which takes place from Jan 30 to Feb 6 in Budapest.

For the first time in the history of the event, a selection committee whittled down the available films to 18 films in competition. Pal Sandor's newest film Noah's Ark opens Film Week on Jan 30, a natural choice bearing in mind that Sandor (Daniel Takes A Train) is one of Hungary's most famous director and the new film stars two if its most legendary actors Dezso Garas and Ferenc Kallai.

Also unveiling a new work is Janos Szasz (The Witman Boys, Woyzeck) whose Opium stars Ulrich Thomsen as a drug-addicted doctor working in an asylum.
