Alejandro Agresti's Valentin opened fifth this past weekend, scoring a good launch for the local title and taking the second highest per screen average after The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which pushed Bruce Almighty off the top. The Jim Carrey comedy had played in the number one slot for four weeks.

Valentin distributor Buena Vista International expects the bittersweet comedy to have legs, given its critical buzz and the fact that it has been shortlisted to represent Argentina in the Best Foreign Oscar race next year. Other contenders are Cleopatra which continues to reign third and El Fondo Del Mar which clings to the eighth place.

Upcoming titles this weekend are Ridley Scott's Matchstick Men, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Alex de la Iglesia's 800 Bullets (Spain) and Beto Brant's O Invasor (Brazil).
