After two weekends at the top of the charts, The Butterfly Effect has been pushed down to fourth position, not just by two openers but also by The Passion Of The Christ, the film it displaced three weeks ago.

Columbia TriStar's 50 First Dates was easily the most popular film in cinemas with a gross of A$2,916,328 from 287 screens, while BVI's The Haunted Mansion was second with A$1,220,305 with 240 screens.

The two other openers in the chart were Icon's Monster, which took A$483,751 from 45 screens to claim the fifth spot and Dendy's documentary Capturing The Friedmans, which grossed A$54,250 from just 11 screens. Monster, at A$10,750, had the highest screen average in the chart.
