Peter Ho-sun Chan's highly-anticipated period epic The Warlords stormed into China, conquering RMB10m ($1.36m) within six hours during its sneak previews in selected cities on Wednesday night (Dec 12).

Polybona's Yu Dong expressed confidence that the picture would cross $13.6m (RMB100m) in its first weekend and break new box-office records for Chinese films, following yesterday's opening on a massive 1,027 prints nationwide.

The company along with China Film Group handles distribution in China.

Produced by Andre Morgan and Chan - the duo behind Perhaps Love - the $40m big-budget picture has three top Asian actors in the lead. Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro play three sworn brothers whose bonding is tested when lust and power come between them.

The picture also opened day-and-date in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, making it one of the biggest Chinese releases this year.
