Cinefile have acquired UK theatrical rights to French coming-of-age comedy French Kissers (Les Beaux Gosses) from sales outfit Other Angle Pictures.
The directorial debut of Riad Sattouf follows the romantic travails of an acne-stricken 14 year-old boy and had its world premiere in the 2009 Cannes Director’s Fortnight before a wide French release in June 2009.
Les Beaux Gosses subsequently won the Cesar for Best First Film and nominations for Noemie Lvovsky as Best Supporting Actress and Vincent Lacoste as Most Promising Newcomer.
Cinefile will release the film in the UK in 2011. Recent theatrical releases from the specialist boutique distributor include Philippe Lioret’s Welcome, Jean Becker’s Conversations With My Gardener (Dialogue Avec Mon Jardinier) and Amy Hardie’s documentary The Edge Of Dreaming.
