Butler [pictured] joins from Double Negative where he was head of animation

Cinesite, one of the world’s leading digital visual effects facilities, have announced that Eamonn Butler will head up their expanding animation division as animation director.

Having spent ten years at Walt Disney Feature Animation, Butler joins from Double Negative where, as head of animation, he supervised high-profile films including Iron Man 2, John Carter, Hellboy 2, Paul and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He will be based at Cinesite’s head office in Soho, London, and will be responsible for leading its high-end character animation team as well as joining Cinesite’s board.

Antony Hunt, managing director of Cinesite, commented: “I’d like to welcome Eamonn to Cinesite. His wealth of experience means he’s well placed to lead our team of talented animators as we branch out in to more character driven animation films.”

Cinesite is currently working on two Paramount titles - World War Z and Jack Ryan - and recently completed work on Sony’s Skyfall.
