John Daly's Miracle Film Distribution (MFD), the independent distributor that was recently launched by Miracle Entertainment as a wholly owned company to serve the US domestic theatrical market, announced today (Feb 19) that the WWII romantic drama The Scoundrel's Wife will be its first release. The picture will open on Feb 28 in St Louis, Missouri.

The picture is set in 1942 Louisiana, where townspeople fear a German spy may be among them. Set against this background is a personal tale of redemption featuring an outcast and a stranger. Tatum O'Neal and Julian Sands star and the picture was directed by Glen Pitre, who also wrote the screenplay. Tim Curry, Lacey Chabert, Eion Bailey and Patrick McCullough co-star.

Miracle has arranged an independent print and advertising fund to support distribution and aims to release 10-12 pictures each year.

Speaking about MFD recently, Daly said: "Our new company will distribute high quality independent films. There is a real need for independent film distributors - and we are very happy to join the independent band." Daly's credits as producer include Terminator, Platoon and The Last Emperor. The company recently announced that William "Randy" Slaughter, who heads up the independent distributor R S Entertainment, had been brought in as a consultant. Other executive appointments will be announced in the near future.
