Early estimates suggest Summit International’s latest Twilight episode is in for a big session as the film grossed at least $8.9m from opening days reported, led by number one debuts in France on $3.8m and Italy on $2.3m.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 grossed $8.9m in total in a series of Wednesday (16) opening days around the world, with a French result that produced the third biggest opening day of the year

The film took $1.3m in midnight screenings in Australia and took $786,595 on opening day in Belgium and $757,000 in Sweden.

Breaking Dawn - Part 1 opens day-and-date with North American this weekend in 54 markets and ventures into the UK, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, CIS, Taiwan, Argentina, the Netherlands, South Africa, Poland and Turkey.

Meanwhile UPI opens Immortals in Hong Kong and Singapore, Tower Heist in South Korea and The Thing in Germany, while The Adventures Of Tintin is set to open through PPI in China.

PPI also debuts Justice (formerly The Hungry Rabbit Jumps) in the UK.

Sony Pictures Releasing International’s Moneyball arrives in France and South Korea, Arthur Christmas opens in German-speaking Europe and Anonymous debuts in several markets including Russia and Italy.

Latest tallies from Fox International put the sci-fi thriller In Time on $54.7m and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes on $301.9m.
