Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen has became the second fastest film in history to reach $300m at the North American box office.
The Paramount/DreamWorks release crossed the threshold after 14 days in release and ranks only behind Warner Bros’ The Dark Knight, which accomplished the feat in ten days last summer.
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen overtook Buena Vista’s Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest in the land speed record books after that film took 16 days to reach $300m.
The film is on course to surpass the $319.2m domestic gross of 2007’s Transformers, while the $600m worldwide running total stands a good chance of beating its predecessor’s $700m final gross.
In fact the overseas run has generated several records: biggest Wednesday-Sunday opening of all time; biggest Wednesday opening of all time; Paramount’s biggest international opening of all time; third biggest worldwide opening weekend of all time; and fourth biggest international opening of all time.
