The European Film Academy has announced the nominees for this year's People's Choice Award. Among the 12 films are Joe Wright's Atonement, David Yates's Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, and Nic Balthazar's Ben X.

From Sept 1 to Oct 31, film fans across the continent can vote for their favourite European film on line at www.peopleschoiceaward.org.

Last year Giuseppe Tornatore's La Sconosciuta triumphed over 10 other films, upsetting such box-office hits as La Vie En Rose and The Queen.

Past winners include Pedro Almodovar's Volver, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amelie, and Fatih Akin's Head-On.

This year's winner will be announced Dec 6 at the 21st European Film Awards Ceremony in Copenhagen.
