Simon Ellis' UK film Soft won the 2007 Palm Springs International
Festival of Short Films & Short Film Market's Best Of Festival Award
and a cash prize of $2,000.


The Future Filmmaker Award and a $2,000 cash prize went to Dee Rees
for the US entry Pariah, while Pop Foul's US title Moon Molson took
the Panavision Grand Jury Award.

In audience awards, Stewart Schill's US film I Hate Musicals won the
best live action short category, while Cynthia Wade's US entry
Freeheld too the documentary prize and Zeth Willie's US film The
Needful Head won the animation section.

All in all 332 short films screened in competition from Aug 23-29,
2007. At time of writing festival staff claimed a 20% jump in box
office compared to last year.
